Your phone system runs on the TIPS VoIP Platform, and we're preparing to move our network to version 45 (v45). This article covers what's changing that you'll actually notice, along with a few items worth checking before the upgrade lands. We'll follow up with the exact upgrade date as we finalize scheduling.
Signing in to the Portal and WebPhone now uses one consistent login page, regardless of which of the two you're opening. This applies to the Portal and WebPhone only; our branded mobile app has its own separate sign-in flow and isn't changing. Admins also have a new Security tab (at both the user and domain level) to require Single Sign-On or two-factor authentication for their organization.
Generating one-time passwords for phone provisioning and factory resets now happens directly in the Portal, instead of requiring a support ticket. If you manage your own device rollouts, this gives your team a faster path to provision or reset a phone.
For more detail on how per-device passwords work, see our article: Per-Device Passwords.
Agents working in shared SMS queues can now send and receive text messages directly from WebPhone, instead of needing a separate tool. This is a meaningful upgrade for teams (front offices, support desks, dispatch) that field text messages as a group.
We're moving call history to off-site storage, which allows us to keep your records for longer while giving you the same access to that history through the Portal.
Available to Resellers
This feature is available at the reseller level and must be enabled by support for your account before it appears in the portal.
Resellers can now view and reassign the SMS carrier for individual phone numbers directly from the portal, without opening a support ticket. The Inventory page gains a new Carrier column showing each number's current carrier at a glance. A dropdown in the number edit modal lets you change the carrier when needed, and the carrier can also be set when adding a new number to your inventory.
Numbers with no carrier assigned show as Not Set, which is normal for newly provisioned numbers. A value of Unknown means the number has a carrier assignment the portal doesn't recognize; flag those to your support contact.
One thing worth knowing before making a change: updating the carrier field tells the platform which carrier to route SMS traffic through for that number. It does not register or provision the number with that carrier. If the assignment doesn't match how the number is actually provisioned at the carrier, SMS delivery will still fail. Confirm with your carrier before changing a production number if you're unsure.
For full details on using this feature, see SMS Carrier Assignment: Reseller Guide (link coming soon).
A batch of fixes lands with v45 that most people will experience as things simply working better, rather than as a change to learn:
If your team integrates with our API, this release adds a number of new endpoints. Full documentation is available at apidocs.trueipsolutions.com.
Beyond what's listed here, this release also includes a long list of smaller bug fixes and performance improvements across the platform.
One item is worth a quick look on your end before the upgrade lands. Reach out to your account manager or support if it applies to you and you'd like help reviewing it.
Custom login branding: Our login pages have had custom branding applied in line with our current branding standards. If you're a reseller with a custom branding appearance and notice anything that looks off after the upgrade, contact support and we'll get it corrected.
If anything here affects how your team works day to day, or you just want a walkthrough before the upgrade, open a support ticket or reach out to your account manager. We'll notify all customers directly with the confirmed production upgrade date once it's scheduled.
